Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is the treatment of certain diseases by the external use of water, especially by exercising in water in order to mobilise stiff joints or strengthen weakened muscles

Hydrotherapy provides all the benefits of regular exercise in a comfortable, low impact environment

Hydrotherapy uses the buoyancy of water to decrease weight bearing, assist with movement and provide resistance where needed.

At North West Physiotherapy Keperra we provide hydrotherapy sessions in a 32 degree pool that is 1.2 metres deep throughout. The warmth of the pool provides the therapeutic benefit of decreased muscle spasm/tightness and increased joint range of motion and the depth of the water decreases the load on joints by up to 60% while standing.

This form of exercise is perfect for those suffering with conditions such as:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Back pain
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Knee and hip replacements
  • Poor mobility or balance
  • General weakness

Stairs with rails on both sides are available to safely access the pool.

Our hydrotherapy sessions are run every Tuesday and Thursday at 12pm and normal physiotherapy health fund rebates apply.
